Volunteer Opportunities 2010

Join Network Recycling Volunteer Litter Picking and Recycling Crew at some of the UK's biggest and best music festivals this summer.

Network Recycling is the UK's biggest and best known specialist festival recycling and litter picking company. We currently have volunteer places available at WOMAD, The Big Chill, Greenman Festival, Shambala Festival, Beachdown Festival, Beach Break Live, Greenbelt Festival, with several other festivals still being confirmed.

You'll be helping to keep the festivals you work at as sustainable as possible by minimising the amount of waste sent to landfill. You will also help make sure the entire site is tidy and free from litter.

The work is varied but everyone in our crew is involved in the recycling process, some of the things you might be asked to do include:

  • Picking up litter, separating the recyclables as you go.
  • Emptying bins.
  • Sorting the recyclables.
  • Giving out bags at the main gates.

As a volunteer you will be expected to complete between 12-20 hours work per event (depending on the event), usually in 4 or 5 hour shifts that are usually spread out from the first day of the festival until the day after the festival finishes so that we can make sure that you get plenty of time off to enjoy yourselves during the festival.

It can be hard physical work, and you will be expected to work in all weathers, so it's not for the fainthearted, but in return you get a full adult pass to the festival, plenty of time off to see your favourite bands and DJ's, a free meal for every shift you work, secure backstage camping with showers, toilets and cafes.

If you want to sign up to Network Recycling's volunteer team for any of these festivals, you will need to pay a refundable deposit in advance to secure your place, or if you want to sign up for more than one festival you can just pay one deposit for the whole season. The deposit is then refunded after the festival(s) provided that you complete all of your shifts as agreed.

If you fancy a summer spent working at festivals why not get a car load of your mates, and apply to join us. You can choose between working at just one festival or spending the whole summer festival season away. Alternatively you can come by yourself and meet new friends while you're working.

Volunteer places are offered on a first come first served basis.

All profits from Network Recycling help to support Resource Futures, a not-for-profit organisation that works with local councils and other organisations to promote better waste reduction and recycling strategies across the country.
